WHO ARE WE ?
We are New Ransom Temple Academy, a non-profit homeschool co-op organization located on the south side of Greensboro, North Carolina. We are on the path to becoming a K-12 school dedicated to fostering academic, social, and spiritual growth for our students and the broader community. It is no secret that our public school systems are failing our children, particularly those from low-income backgrounds and communities of color. According to recent PARCC assessment results (DC Action, 2023), “23% of Black students and 32% of Latinx students showed proficiency in reading compared to 82% of their white classmates” and “11% of Black students and 19% of Latinx students demonstrated proficiency in math, compared with 75% of white peers” as published by the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). It is painfully obvious that with a failing school system, the issues in our communities will never improve and continue to persist unless we attempt to make a difference.
Our homeschool co-op has been established since 2018, driven by our recognition of the inadequacies and ineffectiveness of the public school system. We decided to take action and create an opportunity to attain a higher quality education for our community. Currently, we teach 5 grades: Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade.
At New Ransom Temple Academy, we envision a future where every child has access to an education that not only meets their academic needs but also nurtures their growth as individuals. Our mission is driven by the belief that every student, regardless of their background, deserves a chance to thrive and reach their full potential.
As we continue to expand and work towards becoming a K-12 institution, we are committed to creating a supportive environment where our students can excel both academically and personally. We are dedicated to closing the achievement gap and providing a place where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired.
